Bangladesh was not violating international laws by sending Rohingyas back to Myanmar since they were forced to cross into Bangladesh by a particular religious group, not by the state itself, National Human Rights Commission Chairman Prof Mizanur Rahman said yesterday. The Chairman added that the children and their parents, who entered Bangladesh from Myanmar, were given food and then sent back. He made the remarks while talking to the press after a seminar at the National Planning and Development Academy in the capital. The Law Commission had organised the seminar on “International Tribunal for the Law of the Seas (ITLOS) Judgement in the Bangladesh-Myanmar Maritime Delimitation Case: Significant Precedent in the Law of the Seas”.
